June 2009

The beginning of our winter and the rain has set in here, the grass is growing and so  are the weeds...funny how we don't call grass weeds.
Baptiste Levis Strauss is at the trainer "Tom Herring" at Euroa, Victoria, to be started under saddle. Tom is a campdrafter of Stockhorses and it will be interesting what he thinks about starting a Morgan Horse. As soon as I get some pictures I will post them on our site.

May 2009

Baptiste Levis Strauss Has spent 3 weeks at the Ovens Valley Equine Centre near Wangaratta to be collected for frozen AI. The tests all came back excellent for commercial use, with some testing 42% motility. So, this year will be the first season that we will be offering Levis for stud use to outside mares as well as being able to offer frozen semen to interstate mares for AI. A limited number of mares will be booked in this season, so book in early.

Trip to New Zealand. Judy Oldmeadow and myself where fortunate to be able to take time off from our studs and husbands for 4 days to take a quick trip to New Zealand. To checkout some Morgan horses at Kelford Park Morgan Farm, Timaru, owned by Tim & Megan Kelly.
We left Victoria with temperatures in the mid 20's and arrived in Christchurch with a grand high of 7 degrees mid afternoon....now that is Morgan dedication.
We managed to fit in some tourist shopping with stopping at some glorious cafe's on the coast on the way to Timaru.
Tim & Megan are wonderful hosts and our friendship goes back well over 7yrs with our love of the Morgan Horse, farming, good food & wine.
Once again I was able to say hello to our young filly "Kelford Song Bird" that will be coming over to our stud late June.
Judy wanted to spend some time with Song Birds full sister " Kelford Tuesday's Angel". Angel is a  rising 5yr old and had only just weaned her colt foal a few weeks before. Judy worked with Angel for a short time in the round yard and before too long, there she was up on her back, riding her bareback and in a halter. Apparently the last time Angel was ridden was some years ago as a 2yr old and had never been ridden bareback or in a halter. Goes to explain why Judy and I now  own one each, temperament and trainablitiy are everything for our future Morgan breeding.
You may ask why we had to go to NZ to find ourselves another mare for our stud. This line carries JMF prefix as well as a line to Dor-Vern's Command (grandsire)  who is a grandson of a stallion that I had admired when I first was introduced to the Morgan Horse "Waseeka's In Command"
Chalk MTN Nimble Sprite ( now deseased ) and a beautiful Morgan mare "MT Tawonga Melody", a rare daughter of Aura Dell Charlie Brown.

Haymeron Park Bronson. Owned by Anne-Maree Smith competed at the Dodges Ferry Horse Riding Club, unofficial Dressage series and gained 3rd place in the Senior member class, 5th Overall Topsy highscore & 6th Overall member. Well done Anne, considering all the time off you have had from riding due to back injuries.

Haymeron Park Rob Roy. Owned by Kim Hicks has had some wonderful results riding her purebred gelding the last month in competetion. Recently coming 2nd in his division at Wandin TTT   Horse Trials, his first outing in such  large company.

Check out pictures on our "Photo Gallery" page.

July 2009

The beginning of a new month and it is still raining.
4th: 'Kelford Song Bird' & Judy Olmeadow"s filly 'Kelford Tuesday's Angel' left this morning from Kelford Morgan Farm, Timaru, NZ.
To come and live with us here in Australia, they will be most welcomed as our new additions to our future breeding plans. How exciting!! Thanks to Megan Kelly for allowing us to purchase two of her beautiful Morgan mares.
Levis is coming along really well with Tom, he is a very quick learner and looks fantastic undersaddle. Due to the bad weather we have been experiencing it has been hard to get any pictures yet. Hopefully next week.

15th. Our NZ girls arrived here looking bright eyed and happy to be in a pddock full of Australian green grass, I'm glad to say they travelled well and took to their new enviroment calmly. Judy Oldmeadow came up to our place and took her filly "Kelford Tuesdays Angel" back to Samaria Creek Morgan farm, where I hear that she has already riden her arround the trails of Samaria with a huge grin on her face.
"Kelford Song Bird" has the company of "Win May" & "Chickona" and they are all best friends, even sleeping side by side in the afternoon sun. ( some thing I would believe that Song hasn't seen for awhile in New Zealand.)
20th. Tom Herring has delivered Levis home after 2mths of training, Tom rode Levis arround the farm to see how he would handle being back on his turf. I'm so pleased with the job Tom has done with training our young stallion that I would recommend him to any one that wanted a young horse started undersadle. Extremely soft mouth, very responsive to your leg with great manners and respect. I have put his contact details on our link page if you are after a well experience trainer.
I'm also pleased to announce that our Warmblood/Clydie cross mare "Champagne Bubbles" has left with Tom to be started, then will be off to the vets to be AI'd to Levis for a Palamino foal next spring. You can check out her details on our broodmare page, this foal will be some ones next dressage star.
August 2009

August has been a busy month with Judy Oldmeadow and myself taking off to Sunny QLD to visit all our Morgan friends and their wonderful horses. We must say 'Thank You all' who took the time to show us both arround and put us up in their houses, the best possible time to be had.
Judy was certainly in her element riding Greg & Kath Lyons Morgan horses at Wilga Park Morgan Stud, extremely kind and resposive Morgans that do their stud proud.
I was so pleased to fineally catch up with Chris & Jennifer Hoffman who bought Haymeron Park Micky from us as a foal, he is growing out beautifully and Jen was so proud to show him off to us...Thank you Jen.
We meet so many great friendly people while we where there that I believe if you are ever up that way make the time to visit some of the Morgan studs and enjoy thier friendship too.

Congratulations to Kim Hicks & Haymeron Park Rob Roy who entered into their first TTT navigational rides, gaining a 5th & a 8th place in two rides.

Eagleview Brilliance, Liver chestnut Purebred Morgan mare bred by Martin Los has come to live here at Haymeron Park. This lovely mare will be put in foal to Levis in the next month after she has settled in.

Haymeron Park Kqrac has had a gorgeous smokey black filly to Levis, a very tall and elegant filly with a beautiful refined head. Megan Kelly from Timaru, NZ will be here early next month to see this beauty. Megan has been waiting for this foal for 3yrs now and I'm sure she will not be disappointed.

'Congratulations' to Ann-Maree Smith of Tasmania with winning Champion All Breeds at the Hobart Royal show with 'Haymeron Park Bronson', Bronson is for sale to the right home due to family commitments. You can contact Ann-Maree 03 6265 8963
